Repurpose One Video Into 20 Posts With AI

A practical repurposing system that turns one long-form video into Shorts, social posts, a newsletter and a blog post using AI, without spamming.

Making a great long-form video takes real effort. Publishing it once and moving on wastes most of that effort. A repurposing system turns one video into a week or more of content across platforms, and AI makes the process fast enough to actually do every time. Here is the exact breakdown, from one video to twenty posts.

The principle: one idea, many shapes

Repurposing is not copy-pasting the same clip everywhere. It is taking the ideas inside your video and reshaping them for how people consume content on each platform. A 12-minute tutorial holds a dozen smaller ideas: tips, opinions, stories, mistakes, stats you researched, questions viewers asked. Each one can become its own post.

Pro tip: Repurposing works best when you plan for it. While scripting, mark the moments you know will make good standalone clips, and make sure each one can be understood without the rest of the video.

The 20-post breakdown

# Format Where How it’s made
1 Full video YouTube The original
2โ€“6 5 vertical clips Shorts, TikTok, Reels Standalone moments, reframed with captions
7โ€“8 2 “talking point” clips LinkedIn, X or Threads Square or vertical, opinion-led
9โ€“10 2 carousels Instagram, LinkedIn Step-by-step or list from the video, as slides
11โ€“13 3 text posts LinkedIn, X, Threads, Facebook One key insight each, rewritten for the platform
14 Quote graphic Instagram, Pinterest Your best line on a branded template
15 Community post or poll YouTube Community A question from the video topic
16 Newsletter Email The main lesson plus a behind-the-scenes note
17 Blog post Your website Edited transcript with the video embedded
18 Pin or thumbnail post Pinterest Vertical graphic linking to the blog post
19 Audio snippet Podcast feed or stories If your content works as audio
20 Follow-up reply video Shorts or TikTok Answer the best comment on the original

You do not have to publish all 20 every time. Start with the full video, three clips, one newsletter and two text posts. Add more as the workflow gets faster.

The AI-assisted workflow

  1. Get a clean transcript. Most editing tools and YouTube itself can generate one. Fix names and jargon; everything downstream depends on it.
  2. Find the clip moments. AI clipping tools can suggest moments automatically. Treat the suggestions as a shortlist and choose the ones that genuinely stand alone.
  3. Reframe and caption. Convert to vertical with the speaker kept in frame, add readable captions, and open each clip on its strongest line.
  4. Draft the text posts. Use AI to extract key insights and draft platform-specific posts. Then rewrite them in your voice.
  5. Build the newsletter and blog post. Turn the transcript into a clean, skimmable article. Add headings, remove verbal tics, and embed the video.
  6. Schedule across the week. Spread posts out so each platform gets a steady drip rather than one burst. The Content Calendar Generator helps plan it.

Here is the transcript of my video "[title]" for [audience]: [paste transcript]

Create a repurposing pack:
1. 5 standalone clip moments (start/end quotes, a new opening line, a 6-word on-screen hook).
2. 3 LinkedIn/Threads text posts, each built on a different single insight. Under 150 words each. Start with a strong first line. No hashtag spam.
3. 1 carousel outline: 7 slides, one idea per slide, final slide is a call to watch the video.
4. 1 newsletter draft: subject line, 200 words, one key lesson, one personal note placeholder [add personal note], link to the video.
5. 1 poll question for YouTube Community.
Keep my tone: [describe your tone]. Do not invent facts that are not in the transcript.
AI angle: Tell AI explicitly not to add facts that are not in your transcript. Repurposing tools sometimes “helpfully” invent stats or claims. Your name is on every post, so check every one.

Adapt, don’t duplicate

Each platform has its own culture. A clip that works on TikTok might need a different caption on LinkedIn and a different opening on Reels. A few adaptation rules:

Short-form video

Hook in the first second, captions on, one idea, native upload without other apps’ watermarks.

Professional networks

Lead with a lesson or opinion, add context, keep it conversational.

Email

More personal. Share the why behind the video and a behind-the-scenes detail.

Blog

Structured and skimmable, with headings that match what people search.

A sample repurposing week

Here is what a realistic week can look like for a solo creator publishing one long video every Monday. Adjust the days to when your audience is most active.

  • Monday: publish the full video, a YouTube Community post, and your first Short that teases the main idea.
  • Tuesday: a text post on LinkedIn or Threads with the video’s strongest insight, plus a second clip on TikTok and Reels.
  • Wednesday: the carousel, and the blog post version goes live on your site.
  • Thursday: the newsletter goes out with a behind-the-scenes note and a link to the video.
  • Friday: a third clip, and a quote graphic.
  • Weekend: reply to comments, and pick the best question to answer in a follow-up Short next week.

Batch the work: most of this pack can be produced in one or two focused sessions right after the main video is finished, while the ideas are fresh.

Guardrails

  • Only repurpose your own content or content you have rights to. Clipping other creators’ videos without permission is not repurposing.
  • Check music licenses: a track licensed for YouTube may not be licensed for every platform.
  • Carry disclosures with the content. If the original had a sponsor or affiliate link, the clip or post needs the disclosure too.
  • Do not flood feeds with near-identical posts. Quality over volume.

Measure what the system produces

After a month, check which repurposed formats actually brought people back to your main content or email list. Use UTM links on the links you share so you can see traffic sources clearly; the UTM Builder makes that easy. Then cut formats that do not pull their weight and double down on the ones that do. Remember that repurposed posts have two jobs: reaching new people and sending the right ones back to your core content. A clip with lots of views but no follow-through may still be worth making, but it should not crowd out the formats that actually grow your audience and email list.

What’s in the box: One strong video, a clean transcript, an AI-assisted repurposing pack, platform-specific edits and a weekly schedule. The full system lives in the Repurposing Engine, and the Shorts and Repurposing lesson walks through it step by step. Deciding which formats to lead with? See Shorts vs. Long-Form.
